It seems that finally we're getting some more options in the off-road market. With the resale values on Raptors and Wranglers, it seems like an obvious market to get into.

First, we have the TRD Pro line from the big T. It looks like it'll include a Tundra, Tacoma, and 4Runner. We've had Trail Editions and T|4xRDWTFBBQ versions already, so this must be something a bit more special. With the FJ a

pparently dying and no announced plans for a new Raptor, Toyota has a big opportunity here. Here's the teaser:

Next we have the Lingenfelter Silverado Reaper. Obviously it won't have the broad appeal of a first party offering, or even the Ram Runner. But the more options, the better. Here is a little something I wrote about this not too long ago. Makes me happy to see this too.

That was a nice piece. And yeah, that is a good tie in to what looks to be a growing market. Can't wait to see how the TRD Pro trucks turn out. I'm particularly interested in the Tacoma. I love the Raptor to death, but the new and exceptional used prices will keep me away for the near future. Plus a Tacoma is a lit more usable for day-to-day life.

Raptors are just too damn big and heavy to be of any use for a DD. A compact raptor is exciting stuff.

Sounds like the "pro" is what the TRD TX pro package is . Already on sale as a mild package

The PickupTrucks.com article seems to suggest there's more to it than the existing packages. I hope so.

SO STOKED to see the T O Y O T A come back. I almost bought a 94 grill for my 97 cruiser cause it looks so much better.

Haha definitely. I'll take mine with the old school TOYOTA sticker on the tailgate and the stripes on the side.

Kinja'd!!!

Or maybe an old school Ivan Stewart Baja 1000 livery.

BTW, here's an idea for your 80:

Ivan Stewart livery gets 100 hells yes points. The ironman prerunner still has the bean hat, not the sweet TOYOTA. Sad.

And if you're looking to get into off-roading, may I recommend a wonderful pre-built trail truck?

*shameless plug*

I really don't have much faith in Toyota's offerings. To date, their packages have been mostly stickers and bling.

A mini raptor would be kickass. I'd love to see something like the syclone or typhoon come back: cargo capability of a truck, daily drive ability of a small car

Good luck! That's pretty much how I would build a Taco too.

As far as faith in Toyota, I Want To Believe! They are dropping the FJC, which I can't argue against. But that means that they will have a off road void in their line up. I think they can definitely see that with big sales of Raptors and Wranglers, they have a big opportunity to leverage their reputation and history on these trucks. Also, the recent enthusiast cars and concept cars make it seem like T is trying to turn the corner on the "appliance" thing and may be listening to us.
